High Five for Friday…late!

Finally got the internet up and running…currently posting in Atlanta from my blow up mattress, furniture to come this week (hopefully.)

Here are my H5FFs:

  1. Still can’t believe we live in ATL now. The last 2 days have been a whirlwind, but we love the apt
  2.  We have all the bare essentials nearby…a Home Depot, Whole Foods, Gas Station and Coffee Shops all within walking distance…so blessed!
  3. I have 2 job interviews this week! Wish me luck!
  4. It’s mid-October…it’s 80 degrees…it’s amazing.
  5. We are going to the Bears vs. Falcons game today @ the Georgia Dome. Going to a meet up group with Chicago fans. Hoping to find some Pats fans in there as well.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Moving Day & Weekly Wishes Linkup

It’s finally here!!! Today is moving day!

After I finished up packing up my CT life around 8pm last night, DJ and I headed to one of our favorite spots, Plan B Burger Bar, for a quick bite. Being a typical male (no offense) he still wasn’t finished packing so we ate quickly and headed home. Frantically throwing things in boxes definitely raised my BP and I admittedly was quite the grump going to sleep. But this morning, I am filled with excitement knowing that as of Friday, I will be a Georgia Peach!

Bye Bye CT Master Bedroom

My living room all packed up!

Being the blog reader that I am, I stumbled upon Melyssa @ The Nectar Collection who is doing a weekly personal goal link up. Melyssa’s blog is very inspirational. It’s all about living a positive, beautiful life. What’s not to love about that??? I thought this would be a great linkup to begin using since I’ll be on the job search as of Monday.

1. Share your posts about your goals, challenges, or wishes for the week, month, year, decade, whatever! Entries completely unrelated to the theme or linked to your homepage will be deleted.

2. Link back to this site so others can get their goal-setting on, too! You can use the button below if you’d like!

3. You can link up your posts on any day of the week, but the most common day to do so is Monday. 🙂

4. THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF ALL! You MUST visit the person’s blog who linked up directly before you and leave them a motivating comment. This is such an important part of this linkup! We are each here to encourage each other and build a community of determined women and friends. 🙂 If you do not do this, your post will be deleted from the link-up.

My personal goals for the week:

  1. Survive the drive to ATL. DJ and I are leaving on Thursday afternoon and making our way to DC for the night. I think once we’re in the car, the adventure will start. Right now, it’s just so stressful!
  2. Unpack the new apt. Our boxes are supposed to arrive between Mon-Wed. I’m hoping we can continue to downsize our belongings as we open the boxes. We do however have 1400sq ft so we won’t be lacking space…hopefully 🙂
  3. Continue the job search. What’s more stressful than packing and moving? Job hunting…ugh. Anyone in ATL hook me up!!!!

Also, shout out to my dad on his birthday!!!! Happy Birthday Dad! I love you!

High Five for Friday #5

I’m finding myself very melancholy this week. We lost a great man on Tuesday, my uncle Neggie, after a battle with cancer. Though we knew his prognosis, saying goodbye is never easy. It’s times like these that I want to be living closer to my family. Please keep his wife and daughter in your hearts.

Katie, his daughter and I watching the Pats game with Neggie in SC.

Yesterday my office held a “Goodbye” luncheon for me. Again, another happy/unhappy event. I am thrilled to be starting a new life in Atlanta with Drew, but this office and the people I work with are true gems, and it is hard to say goodbye to them. They really made me feel like I had a home here in CT. I am very luck to have met them.

The moving truck comes on Tuesday. Again, bittersweet. I love my apartment. It’s HUGE and updated compared to my Boston apt. The ATL place is amazing, don’t get me wrong, but still, this apt in CT is where DJ and I really became a couple and fell in love. Le sigh.

I had a horrific experience at the hair salon last night. I bought a Groupon for $50 for full highlight, cut, and dry…it was TERRIFYING! It was in a woman’s house. I swear because I used a Groupon, they gave me the new girl who told me she’s only been out of school for 3 months….as she has scissors to my head. OMG. I had super long hair, like middle of my back. I asked for 2 inches off….my hair is now above my shoulders! Seriously? Then, she puts a ton of product crap in my hair, tries to sell it to me, then says “do you want me to blow dry?”        UH???? YA?????  So she tells me to flip my head over, runs her fingers through my hair while drying for 3 minutes. I timed it because there was a commercial on the TV that still wasn’t over when she told me I was “all set.” I immediately drove home and tried to run a brush through it and dry it….NEVER AGAIN GROUPON!!!

After the salon experience I decided I needed a drink so I met Drew and Billy out for the football game. Well, one drink turned into 3 beers and 4 shots cause we’re leaving and the bartender will miss us….needless to say, I woke up to a mouth that tasted like all of the bad decisions I made and I cannot be happier that today is Friday. AMEN

Peace, love & spanks….ugh

All Hallow’s Eve

All this moving business has made me completely oblivious to times, dates, and locations other than when the moving truck arrives, when I leave, and when I start sippin’ on Margs around the pool. 9 days.

I completely forgot that Halloween is in 30 days!!! My favorite holiday! And no, not because you can dress as sexy as you want, but rather, it’s a true, unadulterated form of self-expression.

I’m always overwhelmed with the decision of what to be every year. Back in the day, my mother would always take me to the nearest fabric store where I’d pick out my pattern and fabric and she’d whip up an AMAZING costume in no time. I miss that…but I think she’d kill me if I asked her to make me a slutty nurse costume 🙂

This year, being in ATL, it will be 1000000° warmer than it ever is in Boston/CT. Can I get a “Hooo Raaaa”

That opens a whole bunch of doors for new costume ideas. Sadly, since I will be sans job for however long, I need to be frugal. That got me thinkin’ Last winter, I went to a metal concert with Tiff, DJ and a few others. Not being a huge metal-head like the others, I decided to play along. So, Tif and I naturally went and bought wigs to transform our naturally (ha!) blonde selves.

Everyone was awestruck with our transformations and it was actually quite fun playing a completely different role than my normal day to day. That being said, I’d love to rock the pink and black wig again.

All I’d need is a hat and stockings….Cute??? Sí or no???witch

What are your go-to Halloween costumes???

Yard Sailing & Girls Weekend

This weekend was not as successfull as I had hoped, but I got an amazing girls weekend out of it and a TON of packing done.

I said goodbye to DJ at the airport bright and early on Saturday morning…and by bright and early I mean that I may have uttered the words “I hate you” as he woke me up to drive his @ss at 4AM….alas, I had to get up anyways to prep for the day’s yard sale.

Oh the yard sale….the yard sale that took over an hour to set up….4 hours to sit looking like a homeless bum with puppy dog eyes begging people to stop, and another hour to tear it all down. What did I get out of it??? $0….not one person stopped by. UGHHHHHHH!!!!

What do you do in this situation? We have soooo much furniture,  tons of clothes and an assortment of randomness that CANNOT and WILL NOT be on the moving truck come 10/7.

I know Salvation Army will pick up donations…has anyone done that before? I’ve only walked in with clothing…Suggestions are welcome.

After the yard sale bust, my best gf from Boston, Tiffany, came down to help with the pack and get our QT on. Arriving around 8pm, we headed out to the nearby Whole Foods for some snacks. This is where we found the most amazing adult beverage!!! Enter: Spiked Seltzer

As an avid seltzer (lime) drinker, to find an alcoholic version with low cals and sugar was a gift from the Heaven’s…after 2 sips, Tif and I knew there would be no packing tonight. It was refreshing and flavorful without the sickeningly sweet after taste that some “clear” beverages have. They currently come in 3 flavors: West Indies Lime, Valencia Orange and Indian River Grapefruit

Sadly, they only seem to have it in the New England/NY area…so, I naturally emailed the company and begged them to sell in Atlanta and that I’d do anything in my power to make that happen. Spread the word people! And look at that rockin’ logo??!!! A mermaid? Hell ya!

Check them out and beg them to come to a city near you!

Sunday, Tif and I woke up around 8:30 and headed to Brunch…my most favorite meal of the week. An adult excuse to get a little sauced while still acting cool and sophisticated and getting your grub on.

We went to Tisane in downtown Hartford, a local favorite known for it’s coffee and tea boozy beverages. I had the Lil Havana, 3 poached eggs over spicy sweet potato and shredded pork hash with a chive hollandaise sauce. It was amazing!!

2 Bloody Mary’s and a coffee drink later it was time to turn on the tunes and get packin’.

Tif is great because she really allows me to let go of all the treasures that I can’t seem to get rid of. I managed to say adios to 4 bags of stuff! So refreshing! After saying bye to Tif, I headed out to the pool for some R&R aka a nap and tan.

Despite the lame yard sale, it was a great weekend that I’ll miss when I’m in ATL….10 days kiddos

Peace, love & spanks

High Five for Friday #4

#TGIF and #HighFiveforFriday!!!! Things I’m loving this week

1. Fall is fabulous!

Fall weather is upon us here in CT and it’s gorgeous! Makes me spring into action mode as the crisp air breezes through my patio door. However, a bit of an Indian summer is going to hit us this weekend. It’s supposed to be in the mid-80s!!! Hopefully that will draw 1,000,000 people to my yard sale tomorrow 🙂

2. Movers R Us

What is it about moving companies that totally feels like a scam? Quoted for one thing, only to find out it doesn’t cover major things…”Oh that’s an extra $$$” Seriously? In my next life, imma be a moving company…or a doctor…or a lawyer…or just pay attention in college. Anyways, I’m happy this will be all over with in a mere 2 weeks from today!!! Holla!!!!

3. Last Hurrah in Boston

Because of the move, we’ve planned a lil getaway to Boston aka my olde hometown, to see our friends one last time before we leave. Bittersweet, I know, but I’m grateful for the people in my life and for the city I spent my 20s in.

4. Fall (work) clothes in ATL

So, currently living in New England with fall temps of about 50°…moving to ATL with fall temps of about 75°….are boots still appropriate? My coworker and I like to keep our office at a balmy 75° at all times. Our bosses appreciate it, as do some of the nurses that stop in to “Warm up.”

5. Decorating

Can’t wait to grab some cute fall decorations from Target to accessorize the new digs. We have a lot of black/dark furniture so we are thinking of a dark red in the bedroom…bringin sexy back!jt

How was your week??
